Mission Inn Museum in Riverside at risk of eviction from historic hotel and spa

The beloved Mission Inn Museum is in danger of being evicted from its namesake, the historic Spanish-style landmark Mission Inn Hotel and Spa in the heart of downtown Riverside, over a fight about the lease.  Both the hotel and the museum attract tens of thousands of visitors every year for their rich history and the annual Festival of Lights celebration.  The Mission Inn Foundation runs the museum within the historic landmark hotel.  “We provide access to the artifacts, access to the tours and without that, the only way anyone would be able to see the hotel would be through meal, hotel stays and weddings, which means most of our citizens would never be able to experience it,” Jarod Hoogland, the executive director of the Mission Inn Foundation, told KTLA’s Shelby Nelson.  After a decades-long run, the museum could face eviction because of a disagreement over a new lease.  “It would sever the foundation and the museum from the hotel,” Hoogland explained. “The hot...

One Pronounced Dead, Three Hospitalized after Wrong-Way Crash near Santa Fe AvenueLOS ANGELES, CA (October 24, 2023) – One victim was fatally injured Thursday morning, in a wrong-way crash on 10 Freeway.Officers say the unidentified driver of a white Dodge Charger was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes for reasons unknown. Shortly after, the Dodge then slammed into an eastbound black sedan.Medics arrived and later declared one victim dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet release their identity. San Jose home with meth lab goes on market for $1.5 million

(KRON) -- A San Jose home that was busted as a meth lab seven months ago is now for sale. 668 Potomac Court went on the market for more than $1.5 million, and it's selling as-is.Surrounded by chain link fencing and warning signs reading "condemned," the home is currently unsafe to occupy. Keller Williams Reality's website lists the home for $1,550,000 and states, "Great opportunity to own large home. Great location to freeway and expressway. Home has inactive meth lab and meth."The homeowner, 35-year-old Peter Karasev, was arrested in March for keeping explosive materials, guns, and narcotics inside. (BCN) --Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price announced Tuesday that her office has filed murder charges against a man suspected of killing two people in separate shootings in the same San Leandro parking lot. Joshua Ballard, 23, is facing multiple charges related to the homicides, including carjacking and second-degree robbery, according to Price. The charges stem from two homicides, one on Sept. 13 and another on Sept. 24, in which Ballard allegedly shot two people in the head during carjackings at the same 24-Hour Fitness parking lot in San Leandro, Price said in a news release Tuesday. ACAPULCO, Mexico (AP) — Hurricane Otis strengthened from a tropical storm to a dangerous Category 4 hurricane in a matter of hours Tuesday as it approached Mexico’s southern Pacific coast, where it was forecast to make landfall near the resort of Acapulco early Wednesday possibly as a catastrophic Category 5 storm.The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Otis has maximum sustained winds of 145 mph (230 kph) early Tuesday evening.
